Solid or Engineered
Your first decision is to choose between solid or engineered hardwood flooring. As the name implies, your solid hardwood floor is manufactured from a solid wood variety. Solid is the most durable wood floor, plus a solid hardwood can be refinished several times.
Engineered floors are created by pressing together thin veneer layers, with the top layer being your choice of a solid wood variety. Your choice of Solid or Engineered will surely increase the value of your home. The ability to refinish your wood floor should be a primary consideration.
Wood Varieties
What type of wood do you want? Each type of wood, when finished, will display its own unique grain appearance and texture. We believe that the smartest way for you to choose your wood flooring is to touch it, hold it, and compare the many varieties of wood samples in our showroom.
Hardwood – Popular Varieties
• Red Oak is a favorite flooring option because of its reddish color, combined
with a coarse grain
• White Oak is brownish in color. The grain looks close to red oak but it is more durable than red oak.
• Birch in color from a light yellow to a brownish red. Birch is a softer wood than red oak, but is still considered a durable wood
• Beech has a consistent grain look with a reddish brown color. It is also a durable choice.
• Pine has a yellowish brown color. Its charm is from its swirls and knots. Pine is naturally resistance to insects and almost as hard as the oaks.
• Cherry has appears as a light brown color and it is a soft wood. Rather than
use cherry for an entire floor, many use it as an accent wood.
• Douglas Fir is a yellowish tan color. Fir is considered a soft wood that can
dent easily.

DISTRESSED WOOD
A very popular look that adds unique detail by appearing naturally aged.
HAND-SCRAPED WOOD
Hand-scraped wood adds a uniform pattern of grooves, and a rough finish.
DUAL HAND STAINED
While most hardwood floors are stained in a single sprayed-on coat, we have manufacturers who apply the finest quality stain by hand, twice. This two-stage process results in the look of fine wood furniture finish. |

SMOOTH
This finish creates a clean, modern and very elegant look
WIRE-BRUSHED
The weathered yet elegant authenticity of wire-brushed hardwood flooring uses wire bristles to open and enhance the grain, adding texture & character. |
