I was very happy with Mike when he installed our floors/baseboards 6 years ago. Now, I needed his help. I renovated a small closet (DIY), which left gaps in the baseboards and some floor boards.

My wood floor extends from my kitchen out into my dining room. The kitchen flooring had never been resurfaced or protected and it became so badly worn that it was no longer a candidate for refinishing. I was concerned about finding a wood that was close in finish and color to the remainder of my flooring. M&M came up with a very compatible wood, and suggested laying one of the new boards across the threshold area between the two rooms to separate them visually. The tear out of my old floor and replacement with the new one was all done in just a day and a half by the skilled, careful and really pleasant crew. They also replaced some boards which had suffered termite damage in another area of my home. I'm highly pleased with the job they did, and plan to use them in the future to reseal the remainder of my wood flooring.

I had Mike and his team at M&M Flooring install new hardwood flooring in my master bedroom at the end of last year and the results are great.

I had 3 companies bid for the job initially and Mike came in right in the middle. I've been burned on other work on my house in the past for going with the lower price and in this case, knew that this company was the right choice following my initial 2 meetings with Mike. He visited my house house for the initial estimate and then once after to make sure that we were ordering the correct material to match the rest of my house and was in contact by phone regularly also up to and during the work. He was super patient in working with me to make sure that the job was going to be right.

The M&M installation crew did a great job, leveling my floor before installing the oak floor and then spending the best part of half a day mixing and mixing stain so that it was the best possible match to the rest of the floor in my home. The end results is incredible and I couldn't be happier with it or the experience working with Mike and his crew.

Mike and his team installed beautiful dark wood floors in 4 rooms in our house and when we discovered asbestos underneath the carpet in one room and were delayed while it was removed, he was able to get us back on the books as soon as the premises were safe to come back. Having come from a hardworking small business family, I like to find and support local companies and service providers that share the same commitment and dedication to providing an excellent job AND premier customer service. This seems to be a very rare thing, but after researching reviews for local floor refinishers, I am so happy to have found M&M Custom Flooring in Burbank.

The task seemed daunting to us: sand, stain and apply 3 coats of polyurethane to older wood floors throughout our small house (all rooms except for the kitchen and bath), and replace all the floor molding.

The owner Mike came out promptly to appraise the situation and give us an estimate. We honestly didn't know if the floors were salvageable as they had been totally neglected over the decades and were pretty beat up. He assured us there were at least two more sandings worth of life left in the original oak (circa 1950), and even pointed out some small issues that needed to be addressed to make everything perfect: we had noticed one plank that needed replacing, and he noted the outline of the hole where a floor furnace had once been, and a couple of other small problem areas. He knows his stuff!

Our experience with M&M has been the best of all the contractors and companies we have tried through Angie's List.Everyone there is a consummate professional: highly skilled, knowledgeable, courteous, grateful for the work, responsive to requests, and as a company, fairly priced.

In addition to Mike, I especially want to thank two of his supervisors, Armando and Zach. They went out of their way to ensure our complete satisfaction, and were so patient in the process of letting us see samples of variously tinted stains on the newly sanded floor so we could pick one we loved. When one plank looked a little light to me--because of the grain of the wood and how it was originally cut, not because of anything they did wrong--they masterfully worked their magic with extra stain and polyurethane on just the one piece.

This is called going above and beyond! The bottom line is that the floors look absolutely beautiful, which totally transformed the whole look and feel of the house. Late in the job I asked for some new wood strips that would cover the spaces from the living room to the kitchen and bath, and also at the front door. When I offered to pay him for the whole job, Mike said he wanted me to be absolutely happy with their work before he took a dime. Then, even though it wasn't on the original estimate, he didn't charge me for the strips! Would we use Mike and M&M Custom Flooring again? YES, in a heartbeat! Thanks so much!

We received five other flooring quotes and by far, Mike was the most educational, responsive, and professional. The night of our first appointment, not only was he on time -- he arrived 10 mins early. We had extremely uneven floors from the living room, dining room and into the kitchen (all on one level). We had parquet floors and engineered wood on the uneven floors and Mike could clearly see the problem. He educated my husband and I on what needed to be done and how he would correct the problem. He didn't employ scare tactics or overwhelm us with technical jargon. He honestly explained to us our options based on our budget. He was very prompt in providing an accurate and detailed quote -- not once, but twice, as we asked for a revised quote when we changed the nature of the job. Regarding our changing the nature of the job -- that came about because Mike was able to make suggestions that would help us cut costs and still achieve the results we were seeking without sacrificing much.

We also emailed Mike photos of the type of wood flooring we had envisioned and he knew exactly what we wanted. By understanding our style and budget, at our second meeting Mike brought the exact style we wanted that was within our budget, and this made the selection process so easy!

During the installation, Mike kept us informed about the process and specifically how many bags of Ardex he was using - since he was only charging the exact number of bags he used. He ended up several bags under budget. We have busy work schedules and could not be around for most of the installation, but we felt VERY comfortable about the progress Mike and his crew were making each day. We felt extremely confident that Mike and his workers were going to finish the job on time and do it right. It's so common for contractors to cut corners in order to meet a quoted deadline or budget (we know from other contractors we were using for other projects at the same time we were using Mike!). Mike, however, never jeopardized the craftsmanship over budget or time concerns -- he just knew what the job would require, communicated it accurately from the beginning and delivered.

Mike also educated us on how to properly care for our floors. He provided us with floor protectors for the legs on our furniture pieces (at no extra cost) and even advised us on the type of vacuum cleaner we should purchase so that we could use a vacuum with rollers that would not damage the floor.

In the end, we have BEAUTIFUL maple floors that we LOVE LOVE LOVE (and receive compliments on). Furthermore, the baseboards along the floors could not have turned out better -- they are a thing of beauty. We enjoyed the entire process and working with Mike. He made it so painless and easy. We felt so confident that he would take care of our floors and home - true respect. We have NEVER met a contractor like Mike. He's a professional in the truest sense of the word, and we look forward to using him again.

Mike and his guys did an AMAZING job refinishing and staining my hardwood floors. They even replaced a couple boards and thresholds that were either damaged or missing at no additional charge to the original quote. At the end of the job, I decided to pay him a bit more because I felt that he undervalued the work and deserved a bit more. I can't imagine having a better experience, and whole-heartedly recommend these guys to everyone.

Mike and his crew were absolutely great! Here is the bottom line: Mike showed up when he said he would, he did what he said he was going to do, he was honest, priced the job well and took pride in his work. Just to top it off, he finished ahead of schedule! Because he had a little extra time he did some small above-and-beyond things (weren't part of the job) and didn't charge me for them. I guess he just cares about making everything right. I will definitely use M&M again.
